Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy.
Jesus told us that if we want to give an offering to our Father in Heaven first we must forgive:
Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.
Mathew 5: 23-24
He was merciful enough to say on the cross: Forgive them Father, because they know not what they are doing.
How can I then keep a grudge against the one who wronged me, insulted me, or treated me unkindly? I maybe right in feeling wronged. Jesus was right and He was on the cross, and still He forgave.
I cannot be like Him, it hurts to forgive when you are feeling the pain of what was done to you.
But that is precisely what your Heavenly Father is waiting for. He wants you to forgive, as His only Son did, and then He will give you resurrection.
